STUDY SHOWS GINGER IS 10,000X STRONGER THAN CHEMO (ONLY KILLS CANCER CELLS)

Ginger has many uses not only in culinary practices by to ease motion sickness and nausea. It has received even more attention, of late, for its effects on a variety of cancers.

A study from Georgia State University has found that ginger extract is capable of reducing a prostate tumor size by 56% in mice. It is also able to supply the mice with antioxidants and reduce inflammation.

A different study, published on PLoS, discovered that a component in ginger, 6-shogaol, is unmatched in targeting breast cancer stem cells.

The cellular makeup of a tumor is only .2 to 1% cancer stem cells, but it is extremely difficult to eliminate them. Stem cells are able to create more cancer cells if it is not destroyed.

“What that means is these cancer stem cells are able to self-renew; they are capable of continuous differentiation, are resistant to conventional chemotherapeutic agents, and are capable of splitting off and forming new tumor colonies. The study discovered that the common methods of preparing ginger, cooking, and drying, produces 6-shogaol. The exciting part is the effect that 6-shogaol has on the body while battling cancer stem cells.

“Researchers found that these cancer-destroying effects occurred at concentrations that were non-toxic to non-cancer cells. That means that this particular component of ginger only killed cancer cells, leaving healthy cells alone. This makes it very different from conventional cancer treatments that do not display that kind of selective cytotoxicity, meaning they can really harm the patient.” -Health Nut News

6-shogaol has a drastic effect on cancer cell death in breast cancer. It is also able to block breast cancer spheroids growth.

It was even able to kill more tumors and cancer cells that the cancer drug Taxol. 6-shogaol is 10,000 times more effective than increased doses of Taxol at eliminating cancer stem cells, keeping healthy cells alive, and stemming the formation of tumors.

Though the study was performed on cell cultures and not people, it shows promise for cancer patients.
