Today is the day Marty traveled to the future in 'Back to the Future Part II'

Wednesday October 21, 2015 is a day movie fanatics have been waiting 26 years to arrive.

In 1989's "Back to the Future: Part II," it's the day Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) travels to when he heads to the future.

In the film, Marty and Doc head to fictional Hill Valley, California at 4:29 p.m.

For the film's 26th anniversary, company's have been scurrying to make some of the products in the film a reality. Here's a look at some of the things Marty comes across and whether they're real or not.

Flying cars

The first thing Marty sees is cars flying in the sky across a futuristic California.

Are they real? We're not there, yet, but we are getting there. AeroMobil has built its own flying car which can fly at up to 124 mph and last for 430 miles. Terrafugia is also working on its own flying car.

Power-lacing sneakers from Nike

In order to blend in, Marty has to put on a futuristic wardrobe which consists of power-lacing Nike sneakers.

Are they real? Yes! Nike auctioned off 1,500 pairs of the self-tying Nike Mag shoes back in 2011 to support the Michael J. Fox Foundation. Earlier this year, Nike announced it will released the Nike Mags sometime this year..

Self-working gas stations

It would be nice if gas stations did all the work, but they still don't.

Pepsi Perfect

Why bother to get your soda from a fridge or fountain when it can just pop up through a table in a cool, custom cylinder?

Is it real? Yes! Pepsi is releasing a limited amount of Pepsi Perfect bottles October 21 online for purchase. You can follow Pepsi on social media for details on where to buy them.

A female president

One of the smaller stories on the front page of the USA Today Marty reads momentarily is about a female US president.

It hasn't happened yet, but it could next year!

The Cubs win the World Series

Who would ever guess that the Cubs would be in the playoffs right now?

Hoverboard

Who didn't want to float above ground on a wheeless skateboard in the '90s?

Is it real? Sorta. A few companies have been working on making their own versions of the Hoverboard. Tony Hawk skated on Hendo's version of a hovering skateboard. Lexus (yes, the car company) also has a similar hovering skateboard which requires a special surface to work.

"Jaws 19" and hologram movies

The "Jaws" franchise faded away after the fourth film.

And while we not be watching holograms on the big screen, 3D has become a staple at theaters since "Avatar" in 2009.

Drones

A USA Today drone is seen outside court in "Back to the Future: Part 2."

Drones may be prevalent today — Amazon has plans to start a drone delivery service — but we haven't reached the point where news outlets are regularly using the technology, yet.

Wearable technology

The JVC headsets worn in "BTTF" which allow phone calls and television show viewing remind us of virtual reality headsets, Skype, and Google Glass.
