Thousands Report Seeing a ‘Floating City’ Appear in the Skies Above China

Last week, residents in Foshan, China looked out their windows to see a mysterious city floating in the sky above them. Leaving many questioning whether this was a mirage, a view into another dimension or something else all together… The flying city was video taped by a local resident who reported it to the news, where it become a spectacle for interpretation.

This picture was taken on October 12 in Jiangxi by a Mr. Wu at 5 pm. He said the image stayed visible for 30 minutes and then disappeared.

Weather experts claim this phenomenon is a mirage known as Fata Morgana, an optical illusion that can be seen on land or sea , Fata Morgana (1) involves the optical distortion and inversion of distant objects such as boats, which can appears as skyscrapers because the images become stacked, when rays of light bend as they pass through air of different temperatures such as in a heat haze.

Yet many are still skeptical, did a parallel universe just open up?

This isn’t the first time ‘Fata Morgana’ has occurred. In March of 2011, hundreds of residents of the village of Bauchi, Nigeria also reported seeing a inter-dimensional floating city in the skies above their rural communities.

According to the Inquistr, eye-witness Saidu Meshai Dulali told journalists “There appeared a wide, large mass of something that looked like a cloud from nowhere and it was flying slowly over the village just at the height of an average tree. The cloud was transparent and I saw beautiful tall buildings inside it. It was like a flying city. And from it I could hear the sound of machines making noise just as you would hear at Ashaka cement factory.”
